Publisher Desc.  1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE is the address of the United States of America's White House, where the U.S. President and other leaders run and manage our country to the best of their ability. This work was written in honor of those men and women who dedicate their lives in service to this country. It is meant to evoke the sense of Americana found in the works of Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, and even John Williams. As the music begins, we hear a solo trumpet on a simple melody, soon joined by a brass choir in a dramatic swell. The melody develops further in the woodwinds and becomes multiple lines echoed and repeated before we change gears and the music picks up pace, becoming a new theme that races forward and leaps between sections of the band playfully before slowing again, becoming an ode to the fallen. My hope is that the melodies and harmonies in this work conjure a sense American pride and hope for the future, a fierce pride for our country and those who've served her.
