St. Paul's Suite
Publisher Desc.
Holst completed St. Paul's Suite in 1913. The piece was dedicated the St. Paul's Girls' School where he was provided a private music studio to teach and compose. The piece was originally scored for strings, but Holst added wind parts for additional students. The suite consists of four movements: I. Jig, II. Ostinato, III. Intermezzo, and IV. Finale. The first movement is quite complex with alternating 6/8 and 9/8 meters, as is the wide range of dynamics and recurring use of pizzicato in the other movements. Set of string parts only.
